The gray color indicates rocks that are older than 1 billion years (Precambrian); blue--rocks bewteen 206 and 545 million years old (Paleozoic); green--rocks between 65 ond 206 million years old (Mesozoic); tan--sedimentary rocks younger than 65 million years; red--volcanic rocks younger that 65 million years (Cenozoic); yellow--deposits younger than 2 million years.
