Notes on the Denver Basin Geologic Maps: Bedrock Geology, Structure, and Isopach Maps of the Upper Cretaceous to Paleogene Strata in the Denver Basin between Greeley and Colorado Springs, Colorado

The purpose of the Denver Basin Geologic Maps of the Upper Cretaceous to Paleogene Strata between Greeley and Colorado Springs, Colorado is to illustrate the stratigraphic and structural architecture of the Upper Cretaceous to Upper Eocene sedimentary strata of the Denver Basin. This new bedrock geology map with accompanying structure maps, formation isopach maps, and geologic cross-sections was created from a combination of geologic mapping, detailed field observations, geochronology, paleontology, and detailed stratigraphic correlations of well logs and cores using modern computer-based technology. The maps combine an extensive subsurface database with the latest surface geologic mapping and are the result of a long-term collaboration between the Colorado Geological Survey and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The result is a comprehensive view of the complex relationships of the sedimentary strata of Colorado's Front Range region that provide water to much of the population. 35 pages, 22 figures, 7 tables, 13 plates, 2 sheets, 1 poster, 1 cd-rom
